Despite the ongoing wildfires in Southern California, the 2025 Grammy Awards are expected to proceed as planned.
Grammys to Proceed as Scheduled
Concerns surrounding the fate of the forthcoming Grammy Awards ceremony, scheduled for Feb. 2 in Los Angeles, have arisen due to the California wildfires that have caused significant devastation in the region over the past week.
On Monday (Jan. 13), a joint statement from Recording Academy and MusiCares CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and board of trustees chair Tammy Hurt confirmed that the show will go on.
The statement expressed sympathy for those affected by the wildfires and assured that necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of the event, which will also serve as a fundraiser for wildfire relief efforts.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares have already committed to donating $1 million to support music professionals impacted by the fires.
In addition to recognizing music achievements, this year's Grammy Awards will emphasize supporting wildfire relief and honoring the courage of first responders.
The event, set to be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, aims to showcase resilience and unity during challenging times.
Kendrick Lamar has been nominated for seven awards, while Beyoncé leads with 11 nominations.
