6ix9ine has initiated a $1 million lawsuit against LA Fitness following the violent assault he endured at a Florida branch in 2023.
Legal Action Against LA Fitness by 6ix9ine
On Jan. 10, Tekashi's legal team filed a civil suit against the gym chain in Palm Beach County, Fla. court, according to court documents obtained by XXL on Friday (Jan. 17). The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of LA Fitness for failing to ensure 6ix9ine's safety during an attack at a Lake Worth site on March 21, 2023. Among other claims, 6ix9ine holds the gym accountable for "failure to implement adequate security measures at LA Fitness; b) Failure to establish and enforce internal policies, procedures, and safeguards to safeguard members from criminal attacks; c) Failure to employ sufficient security personnel at LA Fitness to discourage, prevent, de-escalate, and/or neutralize criminal attacks," and more.
The rapper is requesting a jury trial and $1 million in compensation.

Public Outcry Over 6ix9ine Assault
Footage of 6ix9ine being attacked by three individuals in an LA Fitness restroom became viral in March 2023. The video, shot by one of the assailants, depicts 6ix9ine being assaulted while curled up, sustaining punches and kicks. The injured rapper eventually leaves the restroom after the altercation. Subsequently, three individuals—Rafael Medina, Jr., Octavious Medina, and Anthony Maldonado—were apprehended and accused of assaulting and robbing the rapper.
Later, 6ix9ine provided a comprehensive interview about the incident. He condemned the attack as cowardly and disclosed that he ended up hospitalized. "There were numerous contusions to my face, jaw, ribs. I spent four days in the hospital," he mentioned in an interview with NBCMiami.com.
The reason behind the assault remains unknown.
